My Story
Laura Beth Pleasant is originally from Willis, Texas, which is about 45 miles north of Houston. She was raised on a small farm where she raised animals and eventually received agriculture scholarships that brought her out to Texas Tech University. Laura Beth received both her undergraduate and law degrees from Texas Tech. She graduated in 2002 with a degree in Agricultural Education and then earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2006. During her second year of law school, Laura Beth discovered a passion for estate planning and elder law. She is attracted to the counseling aspect of the law that allows her the opportunity to build relationships with clients and guide them through difficult but necessary life decisions.
Before entering a career in the legal field, Laura Beth coached cheerleading and taught high school students in the areas of government, history and constitutional law at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas. That experience combined with her law and education degrees led her into a position at Texas Tech University where she currently teaches Business Law at Rawls College of Business. She is a member of the Lubbock Area Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is the past secretary/treasurer for the Lubbock County Women Lawyers Association. Laura Beth and her husband Brian have one son, Jaxon, and they attend Victory Life Church.
